Hold everything

Weaver drove in Henderson and rounded the bases on the same play, a single with two errors. The game was stopped in the bottom of the third inning due to rain, with White Hall leading 7-2. Kids Fest Coming Up

Tazenna Kurtz (left) races against Jaxston Woodard on the Bungee Run last year’s Kids Fest. This year’s event will be held April 25 and 26 at White Hall City Park. The theme is “Heroes of Jefferson County Fight Child Abuse.” The event will include a Super Hero Family Walk, where participants can register and walk at 6 p.m. Friday, April 25. Other events will include an art contest, a cupcake contest, a talent show, carnival rides, food vendors, inflatable games and a superhero costume contest. Getting Closer

Work continues on the White Hall Community Center and Water Park as passing motorists can now see the slides that have been installed as the water park nears completion just in time for the summer season.

WH board fires custodian

The White Hall School Board voted unanimously in a special called Monday night meeting to immediately dismiss a middle school custodian after his recent arrest by the Pine Bluff Police Department on a charge of driving while intoxicated.

White Hall resident among scholarship recipients at UAPB

Students in the Department of Agriculture at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff have been awarded more than $25,000 in scholarships in fall 2013. Among them is Elizabeth Andrews, a junior agribusiness major and a Southeast Arkansas College transfer student from White Hall. She has been awarded a $1,250 National Crop Insurance Services 1890 Land Grant Scholarship. Andrews will receive $1,250 per semester for four semesters.

Quiz Bowl winners

The White Hall 5th Grade Quiz Bowl Team won 1st Place at the Elementary Regional Quiz Bowl Fall Tournament on November 8, 2013 at the ARESC in Pine Bluff. The team members are: Trevor Dady, Willis Grandy, Owen Haynes, Sarah Leder, Claire Mwai, and Rebecca Reed. Marybeth Passmore, GATE Teacher, serves as the coach for the Quiz Bowl Team with assistance from Sonya Dady, parent volunteer.
