Two people were killed and four others injured Sunday in a two-vehicle accident on Interstate 30 near Redfield.
Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley identified the victims as Christopher D. Perry, 48, and Hannah Perry, 15, both of Warren.
According to a preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police, Perry was southbound at 12:1 p.m. when the 2011 Toyota Highlander he was driving was struck in the rear by a 2005 Toyota Camry, driven by Joshua Tisdale, 17, of Little Rock, which was attempting to pass him.
After the collision, Perry’s vehicle left the roadway, overturned and struck a tree. The vehicle driven by Tisdale struck a cable barrier and caught fire.
Tisdale and a passenger in his car, Tyler Edwards, 18, of Pine Bluff, and two passengers in Perry’s vehicle, Neiman Byrd, 18, and Jakheeno Stewart, 17 both of Pine Bluff, were injured and taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Trooper Zac Varnell said in the preliminary report that the accident occurred at mile marker 20.
The deaths were the 80th and 81st reported so far this year on the state’s highways.
