Taylor names presidential award honorees

Several students qualified for the Presidential Academic Excellence Award at G.R. Taylor Elementary. They maintained a 3.5 grade point average or higher and scored above 85 percentile on the I.O.W.A. exam. WH grad receives book award from library

The Friends of the While Hall Library presented a $400 check to Drew Holland, a May 2015 White Hall High School graduate, at the White Hall Library on May 20. The Book Award will assist Holland, who is a lover of reading, with the purchase of textbooks. Holland will major in accounting at Arkansas Baptist University in Arkadelphia this fall. The White Hall Friends of the Library annually awards a White Hall high school graduating senior who has registered to attend an institution of higher learning during the fall and spring semesters. Physics of Flight

Bob Tarter, better known as the Animal Man, came to Moody Elementary recently and presented a program titled, ‘Physics of Flight.’ He teaches respect of the natural world and introduces students to various animals that fly. (Special to The Commercial)

Taylor students Jump Rope for Heart

Sixth-grade Quiz Bowl Team wins second place

The White Hall Middle School sixth-grade Quiz Bowl Team won second place at the Regional Quiz Bowl Tournament on Dec. 11 at the ARESC in Pine Bluff. The team members are Trevor Dady, Kyla Kurtz, Sara Leder, Aiden McClusky, Caleb Olomofin, Rebecca Reed and Logan Ward. Moody Recyclers

Andrea Ray’s third-graders at Gandy Elementary made Christmas ornaments from recycled materials for the Jefferson County Christmas Tree. The class presented the ornaments to Jefferson County Judge Dutch King in an effort to promote recycling in our county. (Special to The Progress)
