Second-Place Showing

The Pine Bluff American-Eastern softball team finished runner-up in the second annual Searcy Classic this past weekend. Pine Bluff defeated Ozark, 7-5, in the semifinals to advance to the championship game with Khylah Cross’ two-run double, securing the victory. Sh’Lanyna Lawson pitched a complete game to earn the win. Aryah Turner collected two hits to lead the team at the plate. Talah Hunter, Allison Jackson and Lawson chipped in with a hit apiece. Pine Bluff lost 6-4 against Ozark in a winner-take-all championship game. Ta’Kia Jackson paced Pine Bluff at the plate with two hits. Amiya Helloms, Sushma Dadlani and Sydney Fooster chipped in with one hit each. The tourney served as a warm-up for Pine Bluff as it will compete in the Little League Softball 11-12 year old Southwest Regional on July 31-Aug. 5 in Waco, Texas.
