Two of the top quarterbacks in the SWAC have been named to the College Football Performance Awards watch list.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s Ben Anderson and Prairie View A&M’s Jerry Lovelocke, both upcoming seniors, are among the 36 Football Championship Subdivision quarterbacks named to the list.
As a junior Anderson threw for 2,787 yards, which trailed only Lovelocke in the SWAC, totaled 19 touchdowns and completed 58.8 percent of his passes. He led the Golden Lions with 824 rushing yards and nine touchdowns.
Lovelocke led the top-ranked offense in the conference and therw for 2,838 yards. He completed 66.4 percent of his passes and connected for 23 touchdowns. Lovelocke was named All-SWAC at the end of the season.
The College Football Performance Awards is considered the largest awards organization in Division I football. Its goal “is to provide the most scientifically rigorous conferments in college football,” according to its website.
