Jenkins has strained groin, could return next week

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Arkansas-Pine Bluff linebacker Antonio Jenkins laid on his back on the Alabama State field for about 7 minutes in the fourth quarter with trainers from both teams assisting him and his head coach Monte Coleman looking over him. He was helped up and onto the cart, overcome with emotion as he was carried away.

UAPB not ready for conference just yet

As important as it was for Arkansas-Pine Bluff to come away with a shutout win before conference play, it hasn’t gotten the Golden Lions ready for SWAC play, which begins in their next outing Sept. 18 at Alabama State.

Now that Arkansas-Pine Bluff has taken a bigger-than-expected beating to start the season, the question remains how much will the Golden Lions have bounced back from that to begin its home schedule Saturday.
