Barnes Honored

The late Tommy Barnes, the most successful coach in Arkansas-Monticello football history was honored Saturday with the unveiling of his bust inside the university’s indoor practice facility before kickoff of the UAM-Southwestern Oklahoma State game. Barnes coached the Boll Weevils from 1985-96, earning two playoff appearances in the NAIA and an Arkansas Intercollegiate Conference championship in 1993. Posing with the bust are Barnes’ widow Kookie and former UAM standout Lance Gasaway, whose gift made the sculpture possible. David Deming of Cleveland sculpted the bust. Corrections for 08-15-14
