UAM baseball jumps to No. 11

MONTICELLO — The Arkansas-Monticello baseball team moves up to as high as No. 11 in this week’s NCAA Division II national polls.

Following a 2-1 series victory over Henderson State this past weekend, their third straight conference series win, the Boll Weevils (14-4) moved up two spots to No. 11 in this week’s D2BaseballNews.com Top 30. College Baseball Lineup moved UAM up one spot to No. 12 this week, while the Weevils remained at No. 20 in the latest Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Top 30.

This week’s National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Top 25 will be released Tuesday. The Weevils have yet to make the NCBWA national rankings, but have received votes in each of the previous two polls.

The Weevils are back in action this Wednesday on the road against No. 4 Southern Arkansas in a game that was originally scheduled for Tuesday. The game was pushed back to allow for an extra day of field preparation in Magnolia.

Wednesday’s game is the first of four contests between the Weevils and Muleriders this season, and will be counted as a nonconference game. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.

The two squads meet again at the end of the regular season for a three-game GAC series in Monticello.

The doubleheader at LeMoyne-Owen College has been rescheduled for March 10.
