GAC honors McGee for second time

RUSSELLVILLE — Arkansas-Monticello freshman kicker Jamie McGee was named Great American Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time this season on Monday.

McGee accounted for 10 of UAM’s 34 points in Saturday’s 34-0 win against Arkansas Tech. He tied a career long with a 43-yard field goal to give the Boll Weevils a 10-0 lead just before halftime.

Following an almost 2-hour thunderstorm delay that left Convoy Leslie Cotton Boll Stadium’s field in poor condition, McGee never lost his footing and added a 30-yard field goal at the 4:17 mark of the third quarter.

McGee finished 4 for 4 on extra points and launched seven kickoffs for 394 yards.

He now ranks fourth in this week’s NCAA Division II rankings with an average of 1.8 field goals made per game. He is 9 for 10 on field goals this season.
