UAPB Fishing Team finishes fourth in Nov. 16 collegiate tournament

A team from Arkansas-Pine Bluff finished fourth in the Arkansas Collegiate Series tournament held Nov. 16 on the Arkansas River at Pine Bluff. Hunter Dickey and Ignacio Lopez-Morales weighed in with 11.74 pounds. Twenty teams from Arkansas, Texas and Louisiana participated in the third contest in the series which was hosted by the UAPB Fishing Team.

Elk take a liking to Bearcat Hollow

Bearcat Hollow came into the Arkansas elk hunting scene a few days ago. The extensive multi-agency project south of the Buffalo River was opened to elk hunting for the first time, and the two permit holders were successful.

Anterless only hunt open October 12th

LITTLE ROCK – The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has implemented a private land antlerless-only modern gun hunt for the third consecutive year. The hunt is scheduled for Oct. 12-16 in deer zones 1, 1A, 2, 3, 6, 6A, 8, 8A, 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 16A, and 17.

Duck-o-meter better explained in print than on TV

For the past several weeks, I've been giving a weekly duck hunting report on KATV. KATV Sports Director Steve Sullivan shows up at my office every Wednesday with a camera, and I rattle off an impromptu duck hunting forecast, including a numeric score on a scale of one to seven, for the recurring feature called the Duck-o-meter.
