Giant Catches

From left, Roy Linder of Louisiana, Robert Imboden and Craig Imboden of Conway caught some very big fish earlier this month at Cane Creek Lake, near Star City. The group caught three catfish ranging from 38 pounds, 4 ounces to 47 pounds, 11 ounces. The second-biggest fish was 39-9. The fish were caught using goldfish as bait. (Special to The Commercial)

Hamburg natives win bass tournament

Rusty Linares and Patrick Chapman, of Hamburg, set a believed tournament record Saturday with a weigh-in of 27.83 pounds in the 16th annual Bill Sanders-Bo Piper Memorial Benefit Bass Tournament on the Arkansas River at Regional Park.

White Hall prepped for Waco regional

WHITE HALL — After claiming the Little League district title and following that up with its second straight state championship, White Hall began preparations for the Southwest Regional in Waco, Texas, where it will open pool play against D'Iberville, Miss., at 1 p.m. today at Norcross Stadium.

Second in State

The Pine Bluff American-Eastern 9- and 10-year-old Little League Softball team finished second in the state tournament in Piggott this past weekend. State Champs

The Pine Bluff American-Eastern softball team won the Little League 11- and 12-year-old state championship recently by beating Piggott 13-1. Pine Bluff will represent Arkansas in the Southwest Regional Tournament in Waco, Texas, starting July 26.
