Wildcats begin season with powerhouse Pioneers

In the offseason, Waston Chapel keyed on the fact that it lost its first four games last season and how important it is that the Wildcats get off to a better start. This is the second year for head coach Jarred Dutton, and the players are more comfortable with his system.

White Hall Bulldogs preview

White Hall’s 2014 season was full of close games, and the Bulldogs’ overall record was 5-6. In five of those six losses the margin of victory was seven points or fewer. One big play could have been the difference between a win or loss for the Bulldogs many times last season.

Correction for 08-21-15

In regards to a story published in Saturday’s issue of The Commercial, the newly unveiled sign commemorating Pine Bluff High School’s football and boys basketball state championships from the 2014-15 academic year was designed by the PBHS Class of 2016. PB/JC Clean and Beautiful owns the cast-iron “Welcome to Pine Bluff” sign and granted permission for the commemorative one to be attached.

Having already clinched, White Hall falls to Kentucky

Just before its last game of pool play in the Babe Ruth 14-year-old World Series, White Hall was informed that it finished third in the American Division and had qualified for bracket play. Even though the team could have used the game against Franklin, Kentucky, as a momentum builder, the coaches decided to rest their pitchers and switch up their normal lineup a little.
