2016 PRO-DAY Arkansas Future Stars Showcase successful

The bad weather held off, and the 2016 PRO-DAY Future Showcase was able to proceed smoothly. This year’s showcase featured twelve participants that displayed their talents in front of a number of college coaches, scouts, and professional scouts. PRO-DAY has continued to expand over the years, and the purpose and the production is a large reason for that.

Blake Phillips headed to play for the Arkansas Baptist College Bucs

Standout catcher, Blake Phillips, of the Watson Chapel Wildcats signed his letter of intent Friday morning. Phillips will further his baseball career at Arkansas Baptist College in Little Rock, Arkansas. This was a proud moment for Watson Chapel’s head baseball coach Chad Cope, as he’s seen Phillips grow into the young man that he is today.

Sheridan caps of great run securing the 2016 6A state title

The Sheridan Lady Yellow Jackets ended their season on an amazing run that was capped off with a 2016 state softball championship. Sheridan (23-7) were tough all season long, and when it was time for them to play their best ball, they did just that. Saturday, the Yellow Jackets faced off against the Benton Lady Panthers (18-10) for the 6A state title, and Sheridan cruised to a victory by the score of 6-0.

Golden Lions poised to make run at SWAC championship

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff head baseball coach Carlos James is proud of his guys for winning their third consecutive Western Division championship, but they feel as if they haven’t gained the respect they deserve. Even after all that winning, the SWAC coaches still only selected one Golden Lion baseball player to the post season all-conference teams. That lone player is Syler Henson, who won relief pitcher of the year. UAPB will enter the 2016 SWAC Baseball Tournament with something to prove.

Hartsfield pitches Bulldogs past Wildcats

WHITE HALL — In the midst of a season-defining stretch, the White Hall baseball team saw two of its star players — pitcher Cade Canada and right fielder Chase Bryan — go down with injuries. Faced with that adversity, the cream rose to the top on Thursday in the form of Layne Hartsfield.

UAM baseball series pushed back

MONTICELLO — The 20th-ranked Arkansas-Monticello baseball team has rescheduled this weekend’s home Great American Conference series against Southern Arkansas to Sunday and Monday with times still to be determined.

De Queen holds off White Hall

WHITE HALL — A battle between two heavyweights in the 5A-South Conference lived up to its potential. Thursday evening, the White Hall Bulldogs (15-7, 10-1) hosted the De Queen Leopards (16-4, 10-0), and heading into the game both teams were tied up at the top of the standings for first place.

WH beats Lakeside, forges first-place tie

HOT SPRINGS — Heading into Tuesday’s thriller of a matchup, the Hot Springs Lakeside Rams held the top spot in the 5A-South standings, but after a solid all-around performance by the White Hall Bulldogs that has changed. After defeating the Rams by the final score of 5-2, the Bulldogs and their head coach Skip Carr now are tied for the spot in the standings and they are deservedly so.

Zebras rout Warriors

LITTLE ROCK — The Pine Bluff baseball team nearly batted around twice in the first inning scoring 11 runs against Little Rock Hall to go on to a 20-0 rout on Tuesday afternoon.
