Golden Lions poised to make run at SWAC championship

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff head baseball coach Carlos James is proud of his guys for winning their third consecutive Western Division championship, but they feel as if they haven’t gained the respect they deserve. Even after all that winning, the SWAC coaches still only selected one Golden Lion baseball player to the post season all-conference teams. That lone player is Syler Henson, who won relief pitcher of the year. UAPB will enter the 2016 SWAC Baseball Tournament with something to prove.

Zebras jump out early, hold off Razorbacks

The Pine Bluff Zebras have been playing really well as of late, and that continued as they welcomed in the Texarkana Razorbacks on Friday evening. Texarkana attempted to make a late rally at it, but the Zebras were able to close out the game and go on to win by the score of 8-5.

PBHS seniors Higgins, O’Guinn sign with UAPB baseball

What a special day it was for the Pine Bluff Zebras’ baseball program. Friday afternoon, two Zebra seniors, Kacy Higgins Jr. and Jordan O’Guinn signed their national letters of intent to further their baseball careers at Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Higgins and O’Guinn grew up playing baseball together and played football together for the Zebras the past three years, and for them to be able to stick together as they move on to next level, means a lot to them.

ADA, Okla. — The Arkansas-Monticello softball team opened a four-game Great American Conference road series against East Central with a pair of losses on Friday, falling 10-2 in the first game and 5-2 in the second game.

Wood ties Wevils’ HR record in win

MONTICELLO — Arkansas-Monticello senior baseball player Corey Wood tied a school record for home runs in a season with his 14th to highlight a 13-3, eight-inning win for the Boll Weevils over East Central (Oklahoma) on Friday afternoon.
