McIlroy challenged when it counts

LITTLE ROCK — Not on par with the “Drive,” or the “Miracle on Markham,” but Rory McIlroy’s response halfway through the final round of the British Open will stand for his defining moment until he crafts something better.

The Arkansas Bearcats seventh grade team finished in first place of the seventh grade bronze division in the HoopPlayUSA Nationals in Conway this weekend. They defeated the Texas Bulls 62-57 in the championship game. White Hall routs Rosston

WHITE HALL — Colby Donaldson hit two of White Hall’s home runs in the second inning as the host 11- and 12-year-old All-Stars scored 11 runs en route to a 13-1 victory over Rosston in four innings on Saturday night in the Little League state tournament.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Devil’s Den houses the football coaches’ offices at Mississippi Valley State and is just adjacent to the expanding Rice-Totten Stadium. But new head coach Rick Comegy has spent very little time wondering when construction of the new press box or any other addition to the stadium will be completed.
