Western punches ticket to tonight’s championship

WHITE HALL — Tink Hence and Austin Weatherford combined to allow just two hits as the Pine Bluff Western Little League All-Stars defeated White Hall 3-0 on Sunday in the winner’s bracket final of the Little League 11- and 12-year-old state tournament.

Hence pitched 4 1/3 innings with 12 strikeouts and just one walk. Weatherford struck out three of the five batters he faced.

Western scored two runs in the top of the third and insurance run in the top of the sixth.

Randy Little led Western at the plate, finishing the day 1 for 3 with two RBIs while Weatherford was 1 for 3 with with a run scored.

Will Dixon had the only other hit for Western.

White Hall’s Spencer Smith tallied the only two hits for his team as he finished 2 for 3. He was also the only player to not strike out.

White Hall dropped to the losers’ bracket and faced Union County on Monday. Union County defeated Rosston on Sunday.
