Kendrick Thorn Jr. of Pine Bluff has been selected to attend the Chris Paul Rising Stars Invitational National Basketball Camp in Durham, North Carolina, Aug. 8-10.
Thorn, a soon-to-be freshman, is the son of Joycette Laws and started playing organized basketball in the Seabrook YMCA and Youth Basketball Association in second grade. Since that time, Thorn has played for the AAU Arkansas Cardinals in third and fourth grade, Southeast Middle School in seventh grade and Jack Robey Middle School in eighth grade.
Thorn, a point guard, currently plays for the Arkansas Bearcats under Claude Parker. The Bearcats are a nonprofit 501C organization that is trying to help send Thorn to the CP3 Rising Stars camp, which he will have to pay his way to attend.
The cost to attend the camp is $2,300. Registration fees ($355), hotel ($550, all players must stay at Winston Salem Marriot Host Hotel) meals ($175), air and transportation ($1,300) make up the expenses.
