SILOAM SPRINGS — The Seabrook All-Stars pulled off two straight wins in the Babe Ruth 15-year-old Southwest Regional, but unearned errors in its latest outing cost them a chance to move closer to a championship.
Brazoswood, Texas, scored all of its runs via Seabrook mistakes Sunday in a 3-1 victory that eliminated the Pine Bluff-based team and gave them a fourth-place finish.
“The fourth-place finish is always going to be disappointing because you always want to win it,” Seabrook manager Kenn Dickson said. “But I enjoyed working with this team. They worked hard and played 100 percent always. We enjoyed having the parents. They supported us all the way. All the parents and the mamaws and papaws were there.”
Ja’Kobi Jackson scored Seabrook’s only run in the fourth inning on a passed ball. He hit a triple to get on base.
Seabrook fell despite a strong effort from Trent Marshall, who struck out three and issued no walks in the final 2 2/3 innings. Hayden Arnold started for Seabrook and worked three innings and Garrett Frazier pitched the next 1 1/3.
Seabrook won its second straight game earlier Sunday over Pampa, Texas, 11-0. No details were available, but Gage Roberts was named MVP of the game.
In the Dixie Majors World Series in Ozark, Alabama, the Pine Bluff Tigers were eliminated Sunday with a 16-7 loss to Laurel-Jones, Missisippi, finishing with an 0-2 record in the tournament. In the Big League Softball Southwestern Regional at Jonesboro, La., late Saturday, Pine Bluff American-Eastern was eliminated with a 3-2 loss to Texas West.
