Jackson, Seabrook advances with shutout win

SILOAM SPRINGS — Jakobi Jackson helped the 15-year-old Pine Bluff Seabrook team stay alive in the Babe Ruth Southwest Regional on Saturday night.

A night after a 7-2 loss dropped Pine Bluff into the loser’s bracket, Jackson pitched a complete-game shutout in Seabrook’s 9-0 win over Long Beach (Mississippi) in an elimination game played in Siloam Springs.

Jackson had seven strikeouts to go with two walks and three hits allowed. He also contributed at the plate finishing 2 for 3 with a walk.

Seabrook will face Pampa (Texas) in another elimination game at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The winner will play again Sunday evening at 7:30 against the winner of Brazoswood (Texas) and New Iberia (Louisiana), who play at noon.

Long Beach (Miss.) 4, White Hall 3

WEIMAR, Texas — The White Hall 14-year-old All Stars were eliminated Saturday night courtesy of a 4-3, walk-off win in extra innings by Long Beach (Mississippi) in the Babe Ruth Southwest Regional.

Zach Motsinger gave up the winning run after coming on to pitch the eighth inning after starter Baylor Owen went seven innings.

Motsinger allowed a run (earned) on two hits. Owen allowed three runs (one earned) on six hits with one walk and five strikeouts.

White Hall left 13 runners on base and committed just two errors in the game.

White Hall scored two runs in the first and one in the third. Long Beach scored a run in the first, second, sixth and the eighth to go along with their eight hits.

Wes Harp led White Hall at the plate, finishing 3 for 4 while Bradley Reece was 2 for 4. Owen scored two runs but finished 0 for 3.

Ryan Ruff and Reese Wilkerson had the other two hits for White Hall.

The Pine Bluff Tigers lost 11-1 to McNairy County (Tennessee) in five innings in the first round of the Dixie Majors World Series in Ozark, Alabama, on Saturday.

J’Marlos Johnson was the losing pitcher.

The Tigers will play again Sunday at 10 a.m. against Laurel-Jones (Mississippi.)
