ITTA BENA, Miss. — Arkansas-Monticello improved to 2-0 against SWAC competition this season in women’s volleyball.
Tori Bozzo registered 20 kills and 14 digs, Tasha Evans added 12 kills and six blocks, and UAM took a four-set victory over Mississippi Valley State on Tuesday. Final scores were 25-20, 22-25, 25-18 and 25-21.
The victory evened the Cotton Blossoms’ record at 10-10 and was their fifth in the last six matches. UAM also defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff in three sets on Sept. 10.
Bozzo committed only four errors on 41 swings. She recorded her third straight double-double and fifth overall this season.
Evans committed only three errors in 24 attempts. Gabriella Jandotti, the newly named Great American Conference Defensive Player of the Week, had seven blocks (three solo) and eight kills. Jessica Cuba led the UAM back row with 15 digs and added six kills and two block assists.
Jandotti, of Sao Paulo, Brazil, earned the GAC award after averaging 1.43 blocks per set in three games last week. She blocked 11 (10 solo) against Northwestern Oklahoma State in a five-set win. The junior has 41 block solos to lead the conference.
UAM will host Henderson State next Tuesday.
