WACO, Texas — Biloxi, Mississippi, scored six runs in the first inning and kept Pine Bluff Western from making a serious threat to post a 12-2, five-inning victory late Monday on the final day of pool play in the Little League 11- and 12-year-old Southwest Regional.
Western, the Arkansas state champion, finished the tournament winless in three games.
Monday’s game ended via the 10-run mercy rule. Western mustered only two hits, back-to-back liners by Will Dixon and Austin Weatherford, in the third inning. That led to two runs to pull within 8-2.
But Biloxi added three more in the bottom half of the frame and scored one in the fifth.
Randy Little struck out six in a four-inning no-decision for Western.
Biloxi will take on Pearland, Texas, at 7 tonight in the semifinals of the tournament, to be televised on ESPN2.
