Jenkins has strained groin, could return next week

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Arkansas-Pine Bluff linebacker Antonio Jenkins laid on his back on the Alabama State field for about 7 minutes in the fourth quarter with trainers from both teams assisting him and his head coach Monte Coleman looking over him. He was helped up and onto the cart, overcome with emotion as he was carried away.

NLR rushing attack too much for PB to handle

LITTLE ROCK — There are more than a few Pine Bluff players who will see a two-headed monster in their dreams over the coming days. That creature would be the morphed-together bodies of North Little Rock running backs D.J. Brown and Fabian Lewis.

Warren to face familiar foe

The Warren Lumberjacks (1-1) are no strangers to their upcoming opponent in the Pulaski Academy Bruins (1-1). This will be the seventh meeting since 2002 for the teams and PA has won four of the past six meetings, including a 42-30 win at PA last year.

Run defense at premium

LITTLE ROCK — If Arkansas plays that ended with a too-flat pass and a too-high lateral received any attention this week from Northern Illinois defensive coordinator Jay Niemann, it was no more than a mention.

Passing game missing from Arkansas’ repertoire

The Razorbacks had wrapped up another dominant win, beating Texas Tech 49-28 in Lubbock. It was the second straight week Arkansas had bullied an opponent with its bruising ground game, putting together a 438-yard rushing effort. But it also was the second straight game quarterback Brandon Allen didn’t have to ice his throwing shoulder after attempting only a handful of passes in a run-dominated offense.
