Standout catcher, Blake Phillips, of the Watson Chapel Wildcats signed his letter of intent Friday morning. Phillips will further his baseball career at Arkansas Baptist College in Little Rock, Arkansas. This was a proud moment for Watson Chapel’s head baseball coach Chad Cope, as he’s seen Phillips grow into the young man that he is today.

After Sheridan beat Pine Bluff, 14-7, on April 8, Yellowjackets coach Mike Moore complimented his opponent, mentioning they have the talent to make some noise. It was high praise coming from the coach of the defending 6A state champions.

STAR CITY — After a tumultuous regular season, the Star City baseball team is set to enter the 4A South Region tournament in the best way possible — on a win.
HOT SPRINGS — The boys track and field team at Watson Chapel and the girls team at White Hall each finished four in their respective divisions at the 5A-South Conference meet on Tuesday at Hot Springs High School.
The Watson Chapel girls track 4x400-meter relay team, which took third in the 5A-South Conference meet, was composed of Shanna Shavers, Timesha Cole, Cayla Trotter and Yasmin Jackson. Due to an error on the track aggregation website milesplit.com, the members of the team were incorrectly reported in a meet wrap-up that appeared in Saturday’s edition.
After two very different searches, Pine Bluff officially filled its vacancies for head boys basketball with Billy Dixon and head girls basketball with Alexandra Hart during Thursday night’s school board meeting, athletics director Bobby Bolding confirmed on Friday.
