STAR CITY — It’s always a tremendous honor and privilege for an in-state kid to get an offer from the University of Arkansas. The Dollarway girls basketball team started the second half with only four players on the court. The omission of one-fifth the standard lineup was not out of necessity or symbolism, but out of pure miscommunication.

Patriots gain some revenge in edging Zebras

The Parkview Patriots and their highly regarded head coach Al Flanigan traveled to take on the Pine Bluff High Zebras in a heated 6A-South Conference game on Tuesday night. In their previous matchup in McFadden Gymnasium the Patriots had no trouble cruising to a victory over the Zebras, but in the 6A state quarterfinals last spring Pine Bluff defeated them en route to winning the championship.

Chapel girls impose will on Fairview

Last time out, Watson Chapel suffered a heartbreaking loss to Hot Springs in the championship game of the Lake Hamilton holiday tournament. The layoff between that Dec. 30 game and Friday’s 5A-South Conference opener might have felt like an eternity, but it was just what coach Leslie Henderson said the team needed.

SC girls show Dollarway how it’s done

STAR CITY — The Star City Bulldogs girls basketball team and their highly recognized head coach Becky Brown have gotten off to a great start this season, and Friday they hosted the Dollarway Cardinals in the 8-4A Conference opener for both teams.
