Zebras move past Earle


DUMAS — The Pine Bluff boys basketball team had three players score in double digits as they defeated Earle by 12 points in the Dumas Classic.

Roosevelt Murray and Marcus Thomas scored 12 points each and Jmarlos Johnson contributed with 11 points.

Pine Bluff (2-3) will play Dumas at 8:15 tonight for the championship.

Hughes 49

DUMAS — The Dumas boys basketball team hit a free throw with about nine seconds left to go up by two and hold off a charging Earle as they won 51-49 Thursday night in the first round of the Dumas Classic.

Johnny Gibson led Dumas with 24 points and Ken Madden had nine and James Spinks chipped in with five.

Hughes (2-2) had three players score in double digits. They will face Earle in the consolation game tonight. Dumas (1-4) will play Pine Bluff for the tournament championship.

GIRLS

Pine Bluff 60,

McGehee 37

DUMAS — Pine Bluff blew open a 8-point halftime lead as they defeated McGehee 60-37 Thursday night in the first round of the Dumas Classic.

Ajia Richardson led the Fillies with 20 points and her sister Kye contributed with 14 points.

Pine Bluff (7-1) will play tomorrow against Dumas in the championship game.

Earle 43

DUMAS — The Dumas girls basketball team advances to the championship game of the Dumas Classic after narrowly defeating Earle by five points in the first round.

Mona Mitchell led the squad with 18 points and Whitney Henderson had 12 points. No one scored double digits for Earle.
