Jacob Richardson, a senior infielder for the Woodlawn Bears, has signed a national letter of intent to play baseball for Central Arkansas.
Richardson finished the 2013 season with a .463 batting average and had an on-base percentage of .579. He had a total of 38 hits in 82 at-bats with 21 singles, 11 doubles, one triple and five home runs.
Richardson also saw some time on the mound going 2-1 record with a 3.0 ERA. UCA is coached by Allen Gum, a former teammate to Woodlawn coach Tommy Richardson at Southern Arkansas. Gum took the Bears to the NCAA Division I playoffs last year, losing in the regional finals to Mississippi State, which advanced to the finals of the College World Series before losing to UCLA.
Jacob is the son of Tommy and Leigh Richardson of the Pansy community. He is the grandson of Mary Richardson and the late George Richardson of the Pansy community, and Jim and Donna Sayers of Magnolia.
