White Hall senior-to-be Nathan Richmond, 17, will be among four Arkansas young men to represent the state in the National High School Finals Rodeo in Rock Springs, Wyoming.
Richmond, a steer wrestler, qualified at the Arkansas High School Finals Rodeo in Texarkana from June 5-9. He will compete in Wyoming from July 13-19. The national finals will air on RFD-TV.
More than 1,500 contestants from 42 states, 5 Canadian provinces and Australia will compete, making it the world’s largest high school finals rodeo. Each state and province sends the top four in each event to nationals.
Richmond will need to make the top 20 in a steer wrestling field of possibly 200 to reach the final round on July 19.
Richmond’s father was a finalist in steer wrestling at the 1983 NHSFR. He is the son of Joey and Patti Richmond, the grandson of Eddye Tomboli and the late Ned Tomboli and Joe and Kathy Richmond, all of White Hall.
