White Hall girls advance in DeWitt tournament


DeWITT — White Hall tipped off the DeWitt basketball tournament Monday with a 51-20 victory over Clarendon in girls action.

Hailey Wilkins and JaeLisa Allen each scored 13 points to lead White Hall (3-2). Lindsey Williams added nine points and Alexis Winston had eight.

White Hall will play Forrest City in the semifinals at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Forrest City defeated England to advance.

Fordyce 44, Little Rock Mills 38

FORDYCE — The Fordyce girls won their opener of the FBT Bank & Mortgage Tournament on Monday night.

Markeita Morris led the Lady Bugs with 13 points, while Lacie Hulse added 12.

Fordyce will play Warren at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Other girls scores from the FBT Bank & Mortgage Tournament: Pulaski Robinson 39, Parkers Chapel 36; Warren 65, Camden Harmony Grove 41; Arkadelphia 55, Hamburg 44.

BOYS

England 54, White Hall 51

DeWITT — The Bulldogs trailed by as many as 16 points and stormed back to pull within two, but the Lions escaped with the three-point victory in the DeWitt tournament.

J’Breun Steen scored 21 points for White Hall.

The Bulldogs will face KIPP-Delta at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday in DeWitt.

Pulaski Robinson 68, Fordyce 65 (OT)

FORDYCE — The Senators capped off the first night of the FBT Bank & Mortgage Tournament with an overtime win against the host Redbugs. No other information was available.

Fordyce will play Camden Harmony Grove at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, and Robinson will face Parkers Chapel at 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

Other boys scores from the tournament: Hamburg 51, Malvern 49; Parkers Chapel 71, Harmony Grove 44; Camden Fairview 52, Arkadelphia 38.

JUNIOR HIGH BOYS

Watson Chapel 59, Sheridan 34

At Watson Chapel, Simeon Blair scored 17 points to help the Wildcats (3-3, 1-0 River City Conference) even their overall record and get off to a good start in conference play.

Watson Chapel won the eighth-grade boys game, 39-22.

Star City 37, Dollarway 27

STAR CITY — The Dollarway junior high boys basketball team fell to 2-6 on the season with a 37-27 loss to Star City on Monday night.

The Cardinals failed to reach double-digits in any quarter and went an anemic 5-for-20 from the free-throw line in the loss.

Kuron Brown scored eight points to lead Dollarway, which trailed 21-11 at halftime. Dionte Wilson and Teon Johnson added seven and five points, respectively, for the Cardinals.

Dollarway will play next at home Thursday night against Dumas. Girls start at 6:30 p.m. and boys are scheduled to play at 7:30.

JUNIOR HIGH GIRLS

Sheridan 28, Watson Chapel 24

At Watson Chapel, the Lady Wildcats fell to 2-3 overall and 0-1 in the River City Conference with a close loss to the Lady Jackets.

Jakhiyah Boston and Cayla Trotter each scored six points for Watson Chapel. Two Sheridan players each had nine.

Sheridan won the eighth-grade game 24-21, getting 16 points from one player. For Watson Chapel, Mauricia Bennett had eight points and Tyesha Fields added five.
