STAR CITY — Star City outscored McGehee 16-6 in the third quarter to overcome a 17-16 halftime deficit and held on to take a 43-37 victory in girls high school basketball Tuesday night.

Jaida Harden came close to a double-double with 13 rebounds and nine points for Star City (6-2). Lindsay Kiernan shot 4 for 7 from the floor and had a team-high 11 points.

Star City led 12-5 after one quarter, but McGehee responded with a 12-4 spurt to take the halftime lead.

For McGehee, Niesha Henry scored 20 points and pulled down eight rebounds, and Shakyla Begnaud had eight points and six rebounds.

Fordyce 45, Hermitage 24

HERMITAGE — Fordyce’s sophomores played most of this game Tuesday and helped the Lady Bugs come away with a 21-point win.

Makeisha Brown led Fordyce (7-3) with 18 points and Brandy Stroud added 13.
