STUTTGART — Kaley Fruge singled home Chloe Cox as the Stuttgart softball team earned a walkoff win at home Wednesday afternoon.
Cox and Taylor Fortenberry drew two-out walks to set up Fruge’s hit that ended a 7-6 win over Batesville Southside.
Stuttgart (3-1 1-0 in 2-4A Conference) held a 6-4 lead before Southside tied the score in the top of the seventh.
Jaelyn Maddox threw a complete game for the Lady Ricebirds. She allowed six runs (five earned) on eight hits and six walks with three strikeouts.
Fruge led the offense going 3 for 3 with two walks, two runs scored and three RBIs. Maddox also had three RBIs as she went 2 for 4.
Stuttgart will host Des Arc at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
Stuttgart 10, Batesville Southside 0 (five inn.)
STUTTGART — Jack Morgan needed just 56 pitches to throw a five-inning, complete game against Batesville Southside on Wednesday.
The Stuttgart senior allowed just four hits and a walk with one strikeout in the Ricebirds’ 10-0 win to open 2-4A Conference play.
Lance Oltmann led the Stuttgart (4-2, 1-0) offense as he finished 3 for 4 with two RBIs. Preston Earlywine added three RBIs on a 1-for-3 day.
Stuttgart will travel to face Pulaski Robinson at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
Woodlawn 13, Warren 0 (five inn.)
WARREN — J.P. Aiken and Jacob Richardson combined to throw a two-hit shutout as Woodlawn defeated Warren 13-0 in five innings on Tuesday.
Aiken lasted three innings, allowing just two hits with three strikeouts and no walks. He also had a two-run double at the plate.
Richardson pitched two innings and struck out three. He also had an RBI double.
Trey Chapman and Colby Ferguson went 2 for 2 at the plate while Taylor Stipp had an RBI double.
Aaron Church and Greg Jones had the only hits for Warren. Justin Gorman was tagged with the loss.
Woodlawn improves to 7-1 overall and will host Magnet Cove on Friday beginning at 4:30 p.m.
