SHERIDAN — The Bryant Hornets held the Sheridan Yellowjackets to just 72 yards and six first downs in their 49-0 win on Friday.
The Hornets only found the end zone once in the first quarter, but scored four second-quarter touchdowns to pull away from the Yellowjackets.
Bryant tallied 294 yards rushing and were led by Devonte Howard who had 63 yards on five carries with one touchdown.
Bryant quarterback Brandan Warner threw three touchdown passes, while four different Hornets scored rushing TDs in the win. Brushawn Hunter scored three total touchdowns — two receiving and one rushing.
Sheridan will play Little Rock Fair next week.
Monticello 30, Crossett 14
MONTICELLO — Monticello’s Demetrius Ruffin had three interceptions as the Billies defeated Crossett 30-14 on Friday night.
According to Monticello head coach Greg Tiner, the sophomore linebacker returned one of the picks over 50 yards for a touchdown.
On the offensive side of the ball, Omar Simpson and Imani Riley each had over 100 yards rushing and a rushing touchdown for the Billies.
Monticello plays next week at Warren beginning at 7 p.m.
Genoa Central 37, Drew Central 12
MONTICELLO —Drew Central remains winless, while previously winless Genoa Central picks up its first win of the season 37-12 on Friday night.
Pirate senior Gabriel Suber scored on a 1-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.
A pair of sophomores combined for Drew Central’s second touchdown as quarterback Tristan Hill hit Miguel Strong for the score.
According to head coach James White, sophomore Cole Brixie finished with over 100 yards receiving for the Pirates.
Next week, Drew Central will travel to Fordyce for a 6-3A conference matchup starting at 7:30 p.m.
Junction City 41, Woodlawn 8
JUNCTION CITY — Woodlawn led Junction City 8-7 in the first quarter of the teams’ game on Friday.
But Woodlawn failed to score the rest of the game, while Junction City rolled off 34 straight points for the 41-8 win.
The Bears’ touchdown came on a pass from Colby Ferguson to Dustin Booth. Patrick Cantrell ran in the two-point conversion.
Woodlawn will play next week at Strong. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
