Preps Roundup: Robinson’s three-pointer sends Cards past Ricebirds


STUTTGART — Darieus Robinson kept Dollarway from falling to upset-minded rival Stuttgart with a clutch three-pointer on Wednesday night.

Robinson, who finished with a game-high 14 points, hit the shot with 2 seconds remaining to lift the Cardinals to a 47-45 win.

After a Stuttgart timeout, Dollarway’s Gujuan Christmas sealed the game with a steal.

The Cardinals (12-2, 10-1 in 2-4A Conference) held quarter leads of 14-6, 22-16 and 34-29.

Arkansas football signee Joshua Liddell had nine points for Dollarway, which shot just 20 of 57 (35.1 percent) from the floor and 5 of 18 (27.8 percent) from the free-throw line.

Dewaine Minter and Alante Stewart led Stuttgart (9-11, 4-8) with 11 points each. Lamorrion Luckett added eight points for the Ricebirds, who held a 39-28 rebound advantage, but turned the ball over 10 more times (21-11).

Watson Chapel 54, H.S. Lakeside 40

Leonard Robinson led three Wildcats in double-figures as Chapel remained undefeated in 5A-South play with a home win.

Robinson scored 19 points against the Rams (6-11, 3-5 in 5A-South) in a game postponed a night due to inclement weather.

The low-post duo of Ben Marcus and Xavier Young had 10 points apiece for Chapel (16-3, 8-0).

GIRLS

Stuttgart 66, Dollarway 57

STUTTGART — The Stuttgart girls overcame a two-point halftime deficit to beat Dollarway on Wednesday night.

The Lady Ricebirds improved to 10-10 on the season and 5-7 in the 2-4A Conference with the victory in a game postponed a day due to inclement weather.

Dollarway (2-14, 2-9 in 2-4A) led 25-23 at halftime.

Tiffany Gipson led Stuttgart with 21 points, while Shacara Humbert added 13.

Watson Chapel 44, H.S. Lakeside 15

The Watson Chapel girls breezed past Hot Springs Lakeside at home on Wednesday night.

Peyton Martin led the way with 17 and Timesha Cole contributed with eight.

Watson Chapel (11-9, 6-2 5A-South) led Lakeside (2-14, 2-6) 25-6 at halftime.

Chapel will play at Camden Fairview on Friday.
