MONTICELLO — The McGehee boys defeated Drew Central for the third time this season and advanced to the 8-3A district championship game in the process.
The Owls stayed unbeaten on the season with the 63-56 win Wednesday in the district semifinals at Drew Central High School.
McGehee (16-0) held quarter leads of 20-10, 34-26 and 51-36.
Evander Bailey led all scorers with 20 points for the Owls. Kieanis Henry added 16 and Tracey Lawson chipped in with 12.
For Drew Central (11-16), Edmond Hunter scored 17 points, Dilly Binns had 14 and Mahli Arrington finished with 12.
McGehee will play the winner of Thursday night’s Fordyce-Smackover game for the district title at 7:40 p.m. Friday.

MONTICELLO — The Lady Bugs reached the 8-3A district title game despite a huge night by the Hornets’ Anna Wigley.
Fordyce (21-7) trailed 10-8 after the first quarter but exploded for 22 points in the second to take a 30-17 halftime lead.
Harmony Grove narrowed the deficit to 43-31 entering the fourth but Fordyce scored 23 in the final period to advance to Friday’s championship game against the winner of Thursday’s McGehee-Drew Central game.
Five Lady Bugs scored nine-plus points Wednesday. Alyssa English led the way with 16, Mekeisha Brown and Markeita Morris had 10 each, and Lacie Hulse and Leah Grant finished with nine apiece.
Wigley scored 34 for Harmony Grove.
MONTICELLO — Karen Davis and Yasmine Franklin both scored in the double digits as the Monticello Lady Billies defeated DeWitt 36-27 in a makeup game Wednesday night.
Davis scored a game-high 14 points and Franklin contributed with 11 as Monticello improved to 11-9 overall and 6-7 in the 8-4A Conference.
Deja Stanley chipped in with eight points as the Lady Billies led the Lady Dragons 26-12 at halftime.
Lauren Pace scored 12 points for DeWitt.
Monticello will host Star City on Friday.

2-4A DISTRICT TOURNAMENT
Marianna was held to six points in all but one quarter as the Dollarway Cardinals won their second straight district championship with a 35-31 victory Wednesday night.
Teon Johnson scored a team-high 13 points and was 7 of 12 from the free-throw line. Kuron Brown contributed with nine points and was 5 of 8 from the line.
Dollarway (12-9, 5-2) was 17 of 38 from the free-throw line. They finished runner-up in the conference, behind conference winner Stuttgart.
In the girls game, Batesville Southside defeated Clinton 32-31 to win the 2-4A district championship. Southside finished runner-up in the conference and Clinton won the regular season championship.
