Preps Roundup for 11-19

LITTLE ROCK — A 26-5 third quarter sets Star City’s sails on course Monday, as the Lady Bulldogs opened the Heavenly Hoops Tournament with a 54-34 win against host Mount St. Mary.

Class 4A Star City came from 10-7 down after one period to take a 22-18 halftime lead over 7A Mount St. Mary. Jaida Harden had 16 points and six rebounds and Amira Ford contributed 12 points for Star City.

The Lady Bulldogs will play eStem at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the tournament.

Cabot 53, Watson Chapel 24

LITTLE ROCK — The Lady Wildcats’ season got off to a rough start in the Heavenly Hoops Tournament.

For Watson Chapel, Ladajah Scott had 10 points and Peyton Martin added nine.

Watson Chapel will play the North Little Rock/Sylvan Hills loser at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Drew Central 68, Hermitage 50

MONTICELLO — A huge first quarter helped the Lady Pirates stay perfect on the season with a home win on Monday night.

Drew Central held quarter leads of 26-6, 43-14 and 56-37.

The Lady Pirates (3-0) were led by Cierra Gardner with 29 points and Allison Eubanks with 16.

Drew Central plays at Crossett at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.


Drew Central 75, Hermitage 32

MONTICELLO — Drew Central scored as many points in the first quarter as Hermitage managed in the entire game Monday night.

The Pirates (3-0) held quarter leads of 32-7, 52-21 and 63-29.

Dilly Binns led Drew Central with 17 points, including five three-pointers, while Tremaine Newton added 13. Both players only played in the first half.

Drew Central will play at Crossett at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.


Watson Chapel 50, Vilonia 35

BEEBE — The Wildcats evened their record to 2-2 with a 15-point win over the Eagles in the Centennial Bank Tournament.

Tyriq Goodwin led Watson Chapel with 17 points and Simeon Blair added 16.

The win puts Watson Chapel in Thursday’s championship game, which will tip off at 8:15 p.m.

Jack Robey 36, Dollarway 23

Dollarway fell to 0-4 on the season following its loss to Jack Robey on Monday.

The Cardinals only trailed 20-14 at halftime in their Robey Classic game, but were held to just nine points after the break.

Dionte Wilson led Dollarway with nine points, while Kuron Brown chipped in with seven and Paris Hicks added five.

The Dollarway boys and girls will conclude play in the Robey Classic with games against Dumas on Wednesday. Girls will play at 4 p.m. and boys will follow at 5:30.
