Junior High Roundup: WC clinches spot in championship

SHERIDAN — Watson Chapel clinched a spot in the River City Conference championship game with a 14-6 win against Sheridan on Thursday night.

Ja’Kobi Jackson ran from 17 yards out and scored a two-point conversion in the second quarter to put Watson Chapel (8-0, 7-0 River City) in front. Sheridan pulled within 8-6 on a 20-yard pass before halftime.

With 10 seconds left in the third quarter, Simeon Blair broke a 74-yard touchdown run to extend the lead to eight. A late interception by Davion White sealedthe victory.

Watson Chapel will conclude the regular season Tuesday at home against Maumelle. A win will give the Wildcats home-field advantage for the Nov. 5 title game.

Central Arkansas Christian was tied with Watson Chapel going into Thursday’s games.

Batesville Southside 16, Dollarway 14

Dionte Wilson scored two touchdowns, but the Cardinals lost 16-14 to the Southerners on Thursday night at Cardinal Stadium.

Wilson scored his first touchdown in the second quarter and its second touchdown in the fourth quarter. He finished with 181 total yards of offense.

Dollarway (1-7) will play Heber Springs next week.

Pulaski Academy 40, White Hall 12

LITTLE ROCK — Pulaski Academy defeated White Hall 40-12 Thursday night as the Bulldogs dropped to 4-4 on the season.

Chase Bryan had a six-yard run for a score and Jacob Newton completed a 20-yard touchdown pass for White Hall’s only two scores.

The Bulldogs will travel to Sylvan Hills next week.

El Dorado 6, Jack Robey 0

Jack Robey fell to 4-4 on the season with a loss at home and will finish the season at Little Rock McClellan next week.
