Junior high roundup: Watson Chapel remains undefeated


LITTLE ROCK — Watson Chapel remained undefeated Thursday night by defeating Little Rock Mills 28-6 Thursday night in junior high football.

Simeon Blair scored two rushing touchdowns and was 8 of 10 passing for 75 yards as the Wildcats improved to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in the River City Conference.

Blair scored on a 3-yard touchdown run with 19 seconds left in the first quarter to give the Wildcats an 8-0 lead. He scored again on a 2-yard touchdown run to give Chapel a 14-0 lead at halftime.

Watson Chapel had 299 yards on the ground for 374 yards of offense. Ja’Kobi Jackson had a 14-yard touchdown run in the third quarter and a 3-yard touchdown in the fourth. Mills’ only score was a kickoff return for a touchdown in the third quarter.

The Wildcats have given up just eight points in four games. Chapel will host Sylvan Hills next week.

Dollarway 20, Marianna 0

MARIANNA — Anthony Scott had two touchdowns and 124 all-purpose yards as the Dollarway Cardinals (1-3, 1-1 in 2-4A) won their first game of the season Thursday night. Scott scored with 3:52 left in the fourth quarter and returned an interception 93 yards for a touchdown as time expired.

A 3-yard touchdown by Xavier Frasier gave Dollarway an 8-0 lead with 5:47 left in the second quarter.

The Cardinals will play Lonoke next week.

White Hall 18, Maumelle 6

WHITE HALL — Running back Lance Smith had two touchdowns as the White Hall Bulldogs (3-1) defeated the Maumelle Hornets at Bulldog Stadium on Thursday night.

Smith put White Hall on the board with a 6-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. The Bulldogs led 6-0 at halftime after the failed 2-point conversion.

In the third quarter, Smith scored again, this time from 5 yards out. With 7 minutes left in the fourth quarter, running back Chase Bryan capped off the scoring for White Hall with a 4-yard touchdown run.

Maumelle scored its only touchdown with 3 seconds left in the game.

White Hall will play at Jacksonville next week.

Helena-West Helena Central 24

HELENA-WEST HELENA — Jack Robey improved to 2-2 on the season following a 12-point win over Helena-West Helena Central Thursday night.

Tyler Tueh scored two touchdowns, including a 50-yard touchdown run, and Xavier Smith scored on a 45-punt return for a touchdown for Jack Robey.

Jamonte Brock added a 40-yard touchdown for the Colts.

Jack Robey will host Little Rock McClellan at Jordan Stadium next week.
