First-half hill too much for 'Jackets

SHERIDAN — Texarkana built a 35-0 lead, and Sheridan could not recover Friday night as the Razorbacks won 49-15 in a battle for sixth place in the 7A/6A-South Conference.

Andrew Bishop ran 13 times for 257 yards and four touchdowns, including a 68-yard carry in the third quarter, 53- and 40-yarders in the second and a 28-yarder in the first for Texarkana (4-5, 3-4 in 7A/6A-South). Stacy Moss also returned an interception 39 yards for a score.

The Yellowjackets (2-8, 1-7) finally got on the board with 2:15 left in the first half on a 36-yard Joe Riggan field goal. Brandon Bennett threw for both Sheridan touchdowns, connecting with Dylan Perdue from 27 yards out and Dakota Hedden on a 12-yard strike.

Bennett was 13 for 29 for 230 yards with two interceptions.

In Class 6A, a point system is used to determine seedings for the state playoffs as all 16 teams qualify. Playoff matchups will be released this morning.
