Jones: Garrett will be Cowboys coach in 2014
Irving, Texas — Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Thursday that head coach Jason Garrett will return in 2014 regardless of whether the Cowboys make the playoffs or not.
Garrett, who joined the Cowboys in 2007 as the offensive coordinator, was named interim head coach following the firing of Wade Phillips after the club’s 1-7 start in 2010. Garrett was named the official head coach after the season.
The Cowboys have finished 8-8 the last two years and have lost the season finale both seasons with the NFC East title and a playoff spot on the line.
This season, Dallas is 5-5, a half-game behind Philadelphia in the division. The Cowboys, who haven’t made the playoffs since 2009, face the 4-6 Giants on Sunday in a key game for both teams.
