Several state tournaments for baseball and softball that were scheduled to begin Thursday have been pushed back to Friday, the Arkansas Activities Association announced on Wednesday.
With rain having fallen over much of the state during the past few days, and more expected, the AAA announced the postponement of the 7A, 5A, 4A, 2A and 1A state tournaments in both baseball and softball.
In soccer, only the 4A state tournament hosted by Central Arkansas Christian was postponed until Friday.
The 6A state tournaments played in Benton and the 3A state tournaments played in Harrison are still scheduled to start on Thursday.
In 6A baseball, fourth-seeded Pine Bluff will play fifth-seeded Marion at 2:30 p.m. and later No. 3 seed Sheridan will play No. 6 seed Searcy at 7:30.
In 6A softball, No. 1 seed Sheridan is set to face Little Rock Hall at noon with seventh-seeded Pine Bluff taking on Marion at 5.
In 3A baseball, third-seeded Fordyce will face second-seeded Mayflower at 5:30 p.m., while the No. 4 seed Fordyce softball team is still set to face top-seeded Harding Academy at 10 a.m.
The start times for the opening round games of the 4A state tournaments in Nashville (baseball) and Monticello (softball) as well as the 2A state tournaments hosted by Woodlawn (baseball) and Marked Tree (softball) have not changed.
The 5A baseball tournament in Jacksonville will have no time changes, but the 5A tourney in the same city has one change, which involves White Hall’s opener. The Lady Bullodogs game against Little Rock Christian will be at 5:30 p.m. while Greenbrier and Greene County Tech will now play at 10 a.m.
