FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas officials are keeping a close eye on the winter storm that moved into Northwest Arkansas on Thursday morning and is expected to continue throughout much of today.
But so far, no changes have been made to Saturday’s events on campus.
The Arkansas men’s basketball team will play Clemson at 1 p.m. in Bud Walton Arena, while the women’s team faces Northwestern State at 7 p.m. There’s also a groundbreaking ceremony for the basketball practice facility at 11 a.m.
“This week we have been in touch with both Clemson (men) and Northwestern State (women) on their travel plans,” Arkansas associate athletic director Kevin Trainor wrote in an email Thursday. “They are both currently scheduled to arrive on Friday. We will continue to monitor the weather and coordinate with the teams.”
The winter storm began with frozen rain and sleet Thursday morning, complicating travel in Northwest Arkansas. Forecasts have called for as much as six inches of snow before the system moves out of the area by this evening, but temperatures are not expected to climb above freezing for the next several days.
