Hall of Fame nominees sought

The White Hall High School Sports Hall of Fame Committee will accept nominations for 2013 inductions into the hall no later than March 1, according to Doug Dorris, president of the committee.

Nominees must be a person of good character and citizenship, Dorris explained, in one of three categories:

— Former players and coaches – who have obtained “outstanding sports accomplishments or made outstanding contributions through personal service to the White Hall High School athletic program”;

— Special service – “sports writers, sportscasters, school officials or others who have made outstanding contributions to the White Hall High School athletic program”; and

— Distinguished service – meeting the criteria in either of the first two categories “with the addition that the honoree’s service or contribution was of a long lasting nature of 10 years or longer.”

Nominations must include the nominee’s name; name of spouse; current home address; home, work and cell telephone; occupation; years lettered and honors received in WHHS athletics; college attended, years lettered and honors received in college sports; other achievements; and name, address, telephone numbers and email address of the individual submitting the nomination.

Nomination forms can be obtained from officers of the committee.

The WHHS Hall of Fame Association is an independent corporation operating under the auspices of the White Hall School District, said Dorris.
