Police reports


On. Sept. 11, Kyle Merritt went to the White Hall Police Department regarding a court date that he had missed on Sept. 24. A failure to appear warrant for $1,335 had been issued by Judge Kim Bridgforth and Merritt was given a new court date. The warrant was deleted from the Arkansas Crime Information Center database.

On Sept. 13, Byron P. Laveaux was arrested by the Pine Bluff Police Department on a warrant from White Hall City Court for failure to comply for driving on a suspended driver’s license in the amount of $645.

On Sept. 14 at 3:45 a.m., an accident was reported on the parking lot of the Snooty Fox Apartments at 109 White Hall Road.

Myeshia Parker of Pine Bluff said she had parked her 2013 Chevrolet Spark in a parking spot at the apartments at about 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 13 and went into an apartment to visit a friend. Parker said when she came out at approximately 3:40 a.m., she found that another vehicle had struck the drivers side door and rear passenger door.

The other vehicle left the scene and was listed as unknown.

On Sept. 15 at approximately 10:30 a.m., Officer Stephen Moreau was sent to the Tobacco Superstore at 8418 Dollarway

Road in reference to a shoplifting complaint.

An employee of the store reported that two black males entered the store and one of them grabbed a carton of Newport cigarettes and put it under his shirt. When the clerk told the man to put the cigarettes back, he started getting loud and he and the other man got into a vehicle and left the store.

The value of the cigarettes was $60.42.

On Sept. 16 at approximately 2:25 a.m., Officer Celena Harbison was contacted by 9-1-1 dispatch who said Little Rock Police had stopped Brandon Richards for a traffic violation and when his records were checked, learned that Richards had an active warrant from White Hall City Court for failure to appear with a bond of $470. Little Rock had drug related charges against Richards and a copy of the White Hall warrant was faxed to Little Rock where a hold was placed on Richards.

On Sept. 17 at 1:10 p.m., Aretha Jenkins reported that a pair of shrubs were missing from around the mailbox at her residence at 918 Parkway Drive. She said the shrubs were there Sept. 16 at approximately 11:30 p.m.

On Sept. 18 at 3:20 p.m., a gas drive-off was reported at Sandy Acres at 9225 Highway 270. A white male pumped $15 gas into a black Chevrolet truck and left without paying for the gas.

On Sept. 19 at 5:54 p.m., a two vehicle accident was reported on U.S. 270/Sheridan Road 400 feet west of Robin Street.

Cawaske Jenkins of Pine Bluff said he had pulled out of Taco Bell restaurant parking lot and turned left, or east onto Sheridan Road. He said he was in the center lane when another vehicle pulled out of the driveway between the Big Red Travel Plaza and McDonald’s and struck the right side of the 2003 Chevrolet he was driving.

Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $2,500.

The driver of the other vehicle, Leonila Giblin of Pine Bluff said she was northbound on the driveway between the Big Red Travel Plaza and McDonald’s and turned right, or east onto Sheridan Road when the other vehicle struck the left front of the 2007 Dodge she was driving.

Damage to Giblin’s vehicle was estimated at $2,500.

No citations were issued.

On Sept. 20, Officer Dustin Summers was contacted by the White Hall City Clerk who reported that Coey Thomas had paid his fine for a failure to comply warrant and the warrant was deleted from the Arkansas Crime Information Center database.

On Sept. 20 at 1:25 p.m., a two vehicle accident was reported on U.S. 270/Sheridan Road at its intersection with Heartwood.

Judith C. Belew of Pine Bluff said she was traveling south on Heartwood Street and was pulling up to the stop sign. She said as she was slowing down, another vehicle traveling west on U.S. 270 was turning right onto Heartwood and that vehicle slid into the front left tire of the 2009 Toyota she was driving.

Damage to Belew’s vehicle was estimated at $2,000.

The driver of the other vehicle, Ashleigh Cox of Pine Bluff said she was traveling west on U.S. 270 and was turning right onto Heartwood Street and as she was turning, her vehicle slid into the left front of the other vehicle.

Damage to the 1995 Chevrolet Cox was driving was estimated at $1,000.

The report said at the time the report was taken, it was raining and the roadway was wet.

No citations were issued.

On Sept. 21, an accident was reported on the parking lot of McDonald’s at 8012 Sheridan Road.

Samantha James of Pine Bluff said she was in the lane waiting to turn onto Sheridan Road when the 2005 Volkswagon she was driving was struck in the rear by another vehicle.

The driver of the other vehicle, Brenda Wisener of White Hall said she was behind the other vehicle waiting to turn and took her foot off the brake before she realized the vehicle in front of her had stopped, and she struck that vehicle with the 2009 Nissan she was driving.

On Sept. 21, an accident was reported on the parking lot of the Big Red Travel Plaza at 8110 Sheridan Road.

Sandra Knox of Dallas, Texas said she was sitting in her white 2009 Kia in a parking space in front of and between Mazzio’s Pizza and the Big Red Travel Plaza. A black Ford pickup was parked very close to Knox’s vehicle and as the truck backed out of the parking space, the right front bumper made contact with the left rear of Knox’s vehicle, then left the scene.

On Sept. 21, a Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputy arrested Ciera Lowe on an active failure to comply warrant from White Hall City Court. The warrant was deleted from the Arkansas Crime Information Center database.

On Sept. 22, Pine Bluff Police arrested Latonya Jackson on a failure to appear warrant from White Hall City Court. The warrant was deleted from the Arkansas Crime Information Center database.
