On Aug. 29 at 9:38 p.m., a carbon monoxide alarm was activated at 809 Meredith Street. Fire Dept. Captain Tracy Weaver determined that the alarm was activated by a burner on the stove that had no flame. The house was cleared and evacuated.
On Sept. 3 at 9:30 a.m., Jerry Herring, 59, came to the White Hall Police Department where he was served with a failure to appear warrant that had been issued by White Hall District Court in the amount of $455. Herring was given a new court date and the warrant was deleted from the Arkansas Crime Information Center data base.
On Sept. 4 at approximately 11:27 p.m., Sgt. Sandy Castleberry saw a red Honda Accord traveling north on Dollarway Road with the bright lights on and the driver failed to dim the lights for oncoming traffic.
Castleberry stopped the vehicle when it turned on Little Lane and identified the driver as Shawn Wayne Douglas, 24. Douglas was arrested on an outstanding warrant from the Pine Bluff Police Department and was issued traffic citations for driving on a suspended license, no proof of liability insurance, fictitious vehicle tags and failure to dim lights.
On Sept. 5, Officer Robert Rogers was on patrol in the area of Dollarway Road and Chipmunk Drive when he saw a tan Chevrolet S-10 pickup fail to dim its lights for on-coming traffic. Rogers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and recognized both the driver, Rickey Trantham, 39, and the passenger, Daniel McNutt, 29, from previous dealings with the two.
Rogers reported that both Trantham and McNutt had suspended driver’s licenses. During an inventory of the vehicle, a set of black digital scales, two used hypodermic needles, a bottle containing suspected methamphetamine and a spoon with white residue on it. Trantham and McNutt were both arrested on drug related charges.
On Sept. 5 at approximately 12:00 a.m., Officer Robert Rogers was notified by a 9-1-1 dispatcher that a Pine Bluff Police Officer had arrested Eric Dion Johnson, 30, on a warrant from White Hall District Court for failure to appear with a bond amount of $740. Johnson was transported to the adult detention center where he was given a new court date and the warrant was deleted from the Arkansas Crime Information Center database.
On Sept. 5 at approximately 5:45 p.m., Officer Tommy Kelly met with Amber Pullem, 31, at the White Hall Police Department. Pullem reported that several items including cash, a pair of sunglasses and a bottle of prescription medicine had been taken from her vehicle. She said the vehicle had been parked at several different locations and was unable to give an exact location where the theft occurred.
On Sept. 6 at 8:06 p.m., Officer Sandy Castleberry was at the stop sign on Harrod Road at the intersection of Dollarway Road when he saw a 2007 White Pontiac that was southbound on Dollarway Road failed to dim its lights for oncoming traffic. Castleberry attempted to stop the vehicle at Jefferson Parkway. The vehicle failed to stop and Castleberry and other officers chased the vehicle to the intersection of West 6th Avenue and Blake Street before another officer was able to get in front of the vehicle and force it to stop.
Castleberry reported that it took several Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies, Pine Bluff Police Officers and other officers from White Hall to subdue the driver, later identified as Ricky Averlan Chatman, 52.
Chatman was transported to Jefferson Regional Medical Center by ambulance after complaining of chest pains, and while at the hospital, was issued citations for failure to dim lights, failure to register vehicle, no proof of insurance, fictitious tags, disregarding a police officer, and resisting arrest and was given a court date and released.
On Sept. 6, an accident was reported at the ATM machine of Simmons Bank at 8107 Dollarway Road. Denny Cranford of White Hall said he was stopped at the machine when the 2010 Chevrolet Camero he was driving was struck on the rear bumper by another vehicle.
The driver of the other vehicle, Aaron M. Williams of White Hall said he was behind Cranford’s vehicle and didn’t realize that his vehicle, a 2010 Dodge Ram was moving forward until it struck the rear of Cranford’s vehicle.
Officer Steven Moreau reported that only a small dent and scratches were visible on Cranford’s vehicle.
On Sept. 7 Officer Robert Rogers was in the area of Robin Road and Godfrey Avenue when he observed a grey Dodge pickup that appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed. Rogers reported that the vehicle was traveling 47 miles per hour in a 30 mile per hour zone.
After stopping the vehicle, Rogers reported noticing a strong odor of suspected marijuana and while searching the vehicle, found a clear cellophane wrapper containing suspected marijuana.
The driver of the vehicle, Aaron Michael Williams, 22, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana and speeding and taken to the adult detention center.
On Sept. 8, Officer Celena Harbison was contacted by a 9-1-1 dispatcher who reported that a Pine Bluff Police Officer William Thurmond, 24, in custody on a warrant from White Hall City Court for failure to comply with a bond of $730. Thurmond was taken to the adult detention center and the warrant was deleted from the Arkansas Crime Information Center data base.
