Danny Staton Jr. of 207 Palomino Road, White Hall, told Patrolman Robert Rogers his locked 2006 Chevrolet pickup truck was stolen from the parking lot of Cranford’s Fresh World, 8503 Dollarway Road, while he was in the store.
The officer’s report quoted Staton as saying he had recently broken up with his longtime girlfriend, who was listed as a co-owner of the vehicle. Rogers said he ran a registration check on the vehicle and determined it had been retitled and a new license tag issued in May in the former girlfriend’s name.
The officer was able to contact the woman on June 8 and she acknowledged having possession of the truck, adding it was placed in storage prior to her leaving the state temporarily, Rogers wrote in his report.
On June 13, Rogers said, the woman met him and returned Staton property, including several firearms, which had been in the truck.
Zachary Cade Byerly, 25, and James Scott White, 22, both of Star City, were arrested and charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana after Sgt. Sandy Castleberry stopped a pickup truck driven by Byerly on the Interstate 530 southbound on-ramp off Arkansas 256, according to a police report.
Castleberry said Investigator Chris Drye found two plastic bags containing almost 62 grams of marijuana and a quantity of marijuana seeds during a search of the vehicle and White.
Christian Teer of 1608 Dixon Lane, Pine Bluff, told Patrolman Brian Hornsby he apparently dropped his cell phone June 3 while sitting in the car of an acquaintance at a White Hall truck stop, but the phone was not in the vehicle when he searched it later.
Teer said he made an inquiry at a Pine Bluff business and learned the cell phone had been sold or traded earlier at the business.
Members of the White Hall Volunteer Fire Department responded to a report of a fire at No. 3 Colony Cove at 8:50 p.m. Firemen said the homeowner was burning leaves. No action was taken.
