Police, fire reports for 08-29-12


Aug. 20

■ Two vehicles collided in the drive-through line at McDonald’s, 8012 Sheridan Road, Patrolman Brian R. Hornsby said in an accident report he filed.

Don R. Blasengame of 12901 U.S. 270 told the officer he accidentally stepped on the gas pedal of his 2007 GMC and struck the rear of a 2005 Dodge pickup truck driven by Robert W. Gilbert of 172 Grant Road 36, Prattsville.

■ A 2012 Dodge Challenger driven by Destiny Jackie Jo Stanley of 5900 Cobb St., Pine Bluff, struck a 2006 Chevrolet pickup truck parked in a stall, Sgt. Sandy Castleberry said.

The officer quoted Stanley as saying she was backing out of a stall when her vehicle hit the pickup driven by David Michael Oakley of 419 Baugh Drive, Jefferson.

■ Roy A. Clark of 2438 Grant Road 22, Grapevine, told Patrolman Stephen Moreau his 1995 Jeep Cherokee was stolen from Mazzio’s Pizza, 8110 Sheridan Road. Clark said he parked outside the restaurant at about 8 p.m. and it was missing when he returned about 10:30 p.m.

Thirty-minutes after the theft report was filed, Clark told Moreau the vehicle had been taken by a friend and had been returned.

Aug. 21

■ Two northbound vehicles collided on Dollarway Road north of Church Street, Patrolman Tommy Kelly said, causing only minor property damage.

Jamison H. Silvey of 5901 Knight, Pine Bluff, said she was driving a 2009 Dodge in the inside lane when Marilyn S. Ashmore of 14826 Dollarway Road, Pine Bluff, merged her 2007 Dodge from the outside lane to the inside lane and struck Silvey’s vehicle.

■ A woman paid for $25 in gas with a credit card at Big Jim’s convenience store, 8006 Dollarway Road, then pumped $62.70 in gas into a white Ford Explorer and drove off, Jennifer M. Johnson, store employee, told Patrolman Brent Bridges.

Johnson said the woman paid in advance, then returned to the store to say the pump was not working. The clerk activated the pump, the woman fueled her vehicle and drove off, Bridges wrote in his theft report.

Aug. 23

A pickup truck and an SUV collided at the intersection of Parkway Drive and Cooper Street, according to an accident report filed by Patrolman Brian R. Hornsby.

Mary V. Robinson of No. 7 Colony Drive, driver of a 2006 Mercury Mariner, was quoted as saying she was northbound on Parkway when a 2004 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Marvin Workman of 2610 Cook Road, Pine Bluff, drove into the path of the SUV from Cooper.

Workman told the officer he stopped at the stop sign, but did not see the approaching Mariner.

Aug. 24

White Hall officers received two reports of stolen license plates within a 66-minute period.

Steven J. Ross of 262 Atkins Road, Star City, told Patrolman Brian R. Hornsby he had discovered the license plate missing from his 2011 Jeep Wrangler.

Ross said he parks the Jeep at the commuter lot at the Interstate 530 and Sheridan Road interchange and rides a van to work at a state office in Little Rock.

Sandy Foxworth of 206 Stokes Road told Patrolman John Zuber that her daughter’s 2003 Mercury Sable broke down on Interstate 530 near Exit 32 on Aug. 21. When Angelia Owens returned to pick up the disabled vehicle the following day, she discovered the license plate missing.

Aug. 20

White Hall firemen were dispatched to a vehicle fire on Interstate 530 at mile marker 33 at 10:29 a.m. and found a 1998 Nissan Sentra driven by Montae J. Green of 3104 Violet Drive, Pine Bluff, engulfed in flames.

Fire Chief Sandy Castleberry quoted Green as saying he was northbound on the interstate when the car’s engine began knocking, adding he pulled to to he shoulder. He said a passerby stopped to tell him the vehicle was on fire, adding he didn’t have time to remove anything from the vehicle.
