Residents living close to Pine Bluff Arsenal should not be alarmed if they hear small explosions on the installation over the next several months.
Personnel may have to detonate unexploded ordnance (UXO) discovered during the first phase of a study that is currently underway on the installation.
The study is part of an ongoing restoration effort by the U.S. Army and the Arsenal to address remote areas on the installation that were used during World War II. These areas may contain discarded munitions and other warfare materials. This phase of the investigation is expected to last six months.
