The White Hall School Board met on July 16 to discuss several items for the upcoming school year.
District student hand books have been reviewed by several committees and were presented to the board who handed its approval. The board also approved the personnel policy changes that were necessary as a result of recent legislation.
Bids for the district’s milk, bread and pest control were also accepted.
It was explained that Arkansas state statute allows a school district to pay up to $100 per student athlete toward the purchase of awards. These funds must come from net gate receipts at athletic events. It was approved that the full $100 per student be paid toward the purchase of state championship rings for the girls’ softball team.
The administrative reports were given and according to Superintendent Dr. Larry Smith, the district was within 1 percent of its budget for the 2012-2013 school year.
Smith also informed the board that the 86 students that applied for school choice to attend White Hall would be required to enroll within two weeks of July 22 to prove their intent to attend.
The meeting broke for executive cession where two new certified personnel were hired. Jeff Glover was named the new principal for Hardin Elementary and Ashley Tietz was hired a teacher at WHMS.
With no further business, the meeting adjourned.
The board will meet again on Aug. 13 at 6:30 p.m.
