Navy Seaman Cameron L. Palmer, grandson of R. C. and Lorine G. Lowe of Pine Bluff, was recently promoted to his current rank upon graduation from recruit training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Palmer received the early promotion for outstanding performance during all phases of the training cycle. Training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.

Palmer is a 2012 graduate of Watson Chapel High School.

Navy Seaman Recruit Essence M. Hunter, daughter of Lashanna K. and Craig A. Russell of Pine Bluff, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

During the eight-week program, Hunter completed a variety of training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.

Hunter is a 2012 graduate of Pine Bluff High School.

Air Force Airman Justin L. Gardner graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Gardner is the son of Carl and Charlotte Gardner of Pine Bluff.

He is a 2010 graduate of Watson Chapel High School.

Air Force Airman Jacqkel D. Anderson graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Anderson is the son of Deronda and Danny Massey of Pine Bluff.

He is a 2009 graduate of Lake Hamilton High School at Pearcy.
