Kids’ Fest kicks off Friday at 6 p.m. at White Hall’s City Park with rock climbing wall, inflatable games, food vendors and an event called Praise In The Park where local praise and worship bands, drama teams and vocalist will entertain and encourage the crowd. Friday’s activities will end with a laser light show starting at 8:30 p.m.
Saturday’s activities will begin at 11 a.m. with talented children performing, and will continue until 4 p.m., with free activities including a petting zoo, featuring Matty the Capuchin monkey, a train ride through the park, inflatable games, cupcake making competition, and a concert featuring Jason Truby.
The activities are designed to celebrate children and educate the community on child abuse awareness and prevention, as well as strengthen our community and families, said coordinator Kay Lynn Johnston.
Kids’ Fest is sponsored by The Transformation Project, White Hall Chamber of Commerce, Brookshires, Cranford’s Fresh World, Jefferson Regional Medical Center, Evergreen Packaging and a number of other sponsors.
The Transformation Project, a non-profit organization based in White Hall, offers an afterschool mentoring and tutoring program, a substance abuse program, chemical-free housing, counseling, food pantry and several other community services. The project started Kids’ Fest in 2003 and draws an estimated 4,000 each year, along with more than 40 vendors, organizations and churches participating.
