Army Col. David L. Musgrave, who took over command of the Pine Bluff Arsenal on July 17, will serve as marshal of Saturday’s Founders Day parade, Mayor Noel Foster announced Monday.
Foster reminded the White Hall City Council that it has been a tradition that the Army installation’s commander serve as parade marshal during the first year of a new command.
The mayor said a $43,160 contract has been signed with Cannon Contracting for drainage improvements for a residential subdivision in the northeast area of White Hall, adding the work will be funded with a state disaster grant in hopes of easing chronic flooding in the area. Work is expected to begin in September.
In other action Monday, the city’s aldermen placed on three readings and adopted a proposed ordinance amending municipal code dealing with fixed assets. While the city has maintained a list of assets valued at more than $2,500, the amendment will bring the ordinance into compliance with a new state law, Foster explained.
